Product Description
Etched plates are the core building block of a printed circuit heat exchanger. Instead of cutting channels with a milling tool, we transfer the channel layout from your drawing onto a metal sheet and let the etchant open the flow path, so the geometry stays the same from the first plate to the ten-thousandth. XHS runs this process in-house in Shenzhen and Dongguan, from artwork preparation to finished, inspection-ready plates.
Plate Specification
| Manufacturing Process | Photo chemical etching with laminated photoresist and controlled etchant spray |
| Working Material | 316L stainless steel as standard; titanium Gr1/Gr2 and nickel alloy on request |
| Sheet Thickness | 0.5 mm to 5.0 mm |
| Dimensional Tolerance | ± 0.01 mm on etched features, verified against your drawing |
| Channel Layout | Straight, herringbone, zigzag or combined patterns taken directly from your CAD file |
| Edge Condition | Burr-free, stress-free, no heat-affected zone; no sharp corners or undercuts in the design |
| Input File | DXF, DWG, STEP or PDF drawing |
Why Etching Beats Conventional Machining Here
- No tool wear, no drift. The channel profile comes from the artwork, not from a cutter, so a long production run does not slowly change the flow path.
- Fine detail without mechanical load. Thin sheets can be patterned with dense, narrow channels and islands without the sheet being pressed or distorted.
- Clean surfaces for the next step. Etched faces come out smooth and free of burrs, which matters when the plates are stacked and diffusion bonded or welded.
- Design changes cost almost nothing. A revised layout is a new film file, not a new die or fixture, which keeps prototype rounds short.
Where These Plates Are Used
Electrolyser cooling, fuel cell thermal management, high-pressure hydrogen cooling plates.
Liquefaction and regasification trains, cold boxes and low-temperature test rigs.
sCO2 recuperators, waste heat recovery and compact steam condensers.
Offshore gas trains, sulfur recovery units and high-pressure synthesis reactors.
Environmental control loops, fuel and oil cooling, airborne thermal management.
Test cores, small-batch builds and design verification before serial production.
How the Work Is Controlled
Plates are produced in a 7,000 m² plant supported by a 1,000 m² cleanroom, with eight automated etching lines feeding the same inspection routine. Artwork is checked against the customer drawing before film output, first articles are measured and documented, and every batch is inspected for channel depth, wall width and edge quality before packing. The plant operates to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and IATF 16949.
What We Need to Quote Your Plates
- Plate drawing in DXF, DWG, STEP or PDF, including channel layout and any port or manifold detail.
- Material grade and sheet thickness.
- Channel depth and wall width, or the target flow performance the plate must meet.
- Quantity per item and whether the plates will be bonded in-house or shipped loose.
- Any marking, packing or documentation requirement.
Custom work, quoted against your drawing
Every PCHE plate we make follows the customer's own channel design, material and thickness, so pricing, minimum quantity and schedule are confirmed only after the drawing has been reviewed. Send over your file set and our engineering team will come back with the technical feedback and a formal quotation.
